The Mexican indoor national team was in San Diego on Nov 6, 2009 to prepare for a pre-season friendly against the San Diego Sockers indoor team.
The Mexican indoor national team is coached by Rene Ortiz with the goalies receiving special training by Victor Melendez as his assistant coach. The Mexican indoor national team is comprised of a number of soccer legends including Lupillo Castaneda, one of the most important Mexican players of all time who played with the Tiburones de Veracruz and Luis Hernandez “El Matador” who is one of the most famous and important players to have played with the Mexican National Team.
Two local high school age players (David Garza and Ramon Maldonado) from the Chula Vista Rangers Soccer club recently had a once in a life time experience to practice with a number of high level former Mexican National team players.
David Garza plays defender and goalie for his BU17 club soccer team and currently plays goalie for his high school team (Bonita Vista). Ramon Maldonado plays goalie for his BU18 red club soccer team and currently plays goalie for his high school team (Castle Park). Both players were very excited about the opportunity to train with the Mexican Indoor soccer team and feel that this experience will motivate for their upcoming high school soccer season and beyond.
