The Chula Vista Rangers BU14 White enjoyed the 4th of July weekend with some soccer, fun and fireworks on their way to claim the BU14 Silver bracket in the 2009 Pegasus Cup.
The weekend started with a 2-1 victory over FCSD Blue in a very close game. The score was tied 0 at halftime but the second half changed when Vincent Acevedo scored two goals within a five minute span and the Rangers held off the Sockers to win the game.
The second game on Saturday began with the Rangers making a few mistakes early going down 1-0 to the Ellsinore Extreme FC within the first minute. The Rangers came back to tie and take the lead by halftime with scores from Christian Soldau and Steven Jaramillo. Anthony Rodriguez and Danny Bueno put together second half scores to put away the Extreme and win 4-1.
On Sunday, the Rangers faced the FC San Diego White team and were victorious by a score of 4-0. Goals were scored Robert White, Danny Bueno, Jonathan Bueno and Anthony Rodriguez. In the Championship game, the Rangers again faced off against the Ellsinore Extreme FC. The final way a great game and was scoreless until the second half when Steven Jaramillo scored. Danny Bueno scored to make it 2-0 and the team held off to win the Championship game.
"The boys played very well this weekend. Even though I did not have my full team, the team did a great job playing with a mixture of two teams and even some of our younger Ranger players this weekend. My hats are off to them as they made this 4th of July weekend a memorial one" coach Jesus Acevedo.
